TIME SLOTS:
Apex Soccer's Summer GK Camp is a chance to build a solid technical foundation before enrolling in our Apex GK Academy or just heading back to your regular club or school teams.
Apex GK Director Ziggy Zigante has coached at all levels from youth to International working stints with both the US and Croatian National Teams. His most recent professional product is Joe Cannon, goalkeeper for the LA Galaxy and US National team.
Ziggy's staff includes his wife Gretchen, former national champion with UNC-Chapel Hill, and a former US Women's National team member, as well as current Carolina Railhawks goalkeeper Eric Reed. Other D1 College goalkeeper coaches will act as assistant staff to guarantee a low ratio.
2010 Apex Summer GK Camp will run June 14-18, 2010 from 6pm-8pm.
The players will be grouped according to skill level and availability. All areas of goalkeeping will be covered to provide a concrete foundation in technique in a game-realistic environment. Our guided-discovery method of teaching has proven to increase retention rates as the players learn where and when to apply the techniques they have been taught, rather than using the staff as a crutch to make their decisions for them.
Players leaving the camp will all have been exposed to basic handling technique, diving, extended-range diving, high balls, crosses, breakaway situations, distribution and set pieces/penalties. All elements will have coordination, agility, flexibility and core strength elements.
Those players placed in advanced groups will incorporate game situations into the advanced techniques such as 2 versus 1 and 3 versus 2 numbers down situations. These players will be placed each evening in game-realistic settings where they can begin gaining experience making the decisions that will ultimately lead to success at the position in matches.
All players registered before April 23rd receive a FREE pair of Match Quality Goalkeeper Gloves!
