Apex Futsal Team Finishes National Tournament as Semi-finalist

Playing actual games for the first time, the Apex national futsal team had a strong showing at the USFF National Championships, finishing as semi-finalists in the U14 age group.
The team, although comprised of U13 players, went 2-1-1 in the tournament, with their only loss coming in the national semi-final game.
In their first match, the team fell behind early against a strong team from New York. Midway through the first half, the initial shock of actual competition wore off and the Apex players were able to settle in and play to their strengths. Mounting a second half rally, Apex went on to draw 4-4.
The team put together a great performance in their second game, dominating their opponent by the score of 8-3. After conceding a goal early, Apex went on the offensive, scoring six unanswered goals en route to their first victory.
In their third match, Apex scored three quick goals to start the game, but didn't play well the rest of the first half which lead to a 3-3 tie going into halftime. The second half was highly competitive, but two late goals sealed the win for Apex, advancing the team to the national semi-final game.
In the semi-final game versus a group from southern California, the team didn't play to it's capabilities and couldn't seem to capitalize on their opportunities. Apex went on to lose 8-2 against the eventual national champion. It was the team's only loss of the tournament.
All things considered, it was a great showing by the Apex national team, and it was a valuable experience for the players, who are all new to the game of futsal. Apex Soccer looks forward to the continuing growth of its Futsal Academy.
